Learning Quest > You...! Me...! ... Variety...

You are a sports dietitian researching the importance of young people eating a balanced diet and being physically active. During this Learning Quest you will first build up your knowledge about healthy eating and physical activity, then look at yourself and others. You will also explore the benefits of a variety of foods and physical activities.

If you are like most kids, you might sometimes wish you looked like someone else. Eg: your sports hero, someone famous, or even a supermodel. Maybe you wish you were taller or shorter or just shaped a little differently. Thinking this way is a natural part of growing up. Learning that there are certain things about yourself that you can't change and accepting these things is an important part of growing. It's a good thing that we are all different.

Throughout this learning quest it is important to consider what is good for you. How boring would it be if we were all the same! It is also important to reflect on your learning through out this Learning Quest. You can use the rubric to assist your reflection.

Instead of looking at the people you see all the time in magazines, on television, on the Internet, in video games or in books, try looking at people around you. Look at all the different kinds of shapes and sizes.

Are we all different?
