Kellogg, the Technology School of the Future
and Lee Anton-Hem - Physical and Sport Education
Consultant (HPE Solutions) have developed
a range of flexible Learning Quests for
primary
school teachers
and their students. Emphasis is on the importance
of learning about nutrition and physical
activity to help achieve overall health and
fitness. All the Learning Quests have been
written for primary school students and are
supported by detailed notes for teachers
and parents.
What is a Learning Quest?
A Learning Quest activity:
 |
 |
Guides student through
a process of learning through engaging
and challenging tasks |
| |
 |
Involves the development of student
centred problem solving |
| |
 |
Utilises the Internet as one of many
resources |
| |
 |
Involves sharing what is learnt with
others |
The
structure of a Learning Quest is flexible
and the main aim is to have a
clear process
for encouraging learning.
Each Learning Quest, if completed in full,
takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks with
students spending time on it on most days
of the week. However all Learning Quests
can be broken down with only some parts
completed. The Learning Quests are also
written to encourage individual, small,
large and class group work and where ever
possible encourages sharing and collaboration
about health, nutrition and physical activity.
All learning quests and online activities
are targeted to all key strands and learning
outcomes for curriculum/syllabus frameworks
for all Australian States and Territories.
We have developed a list of some general
