Introduction
|
|
| |
Let’s
investigate new food and physical activity
ideas.
Eating a variety of foods and doing a
variety of physical activity is important
for students
growth, development and overall health.
New foods and doing new physical activity
brings
more variety to the diet and life. It also
can stop students getting bored from doing
the same thing each day.
This activity allows students to explore
new and exciting physical activities and
foods. Learning something new not only
provides variety but also helps develop
new skills
and can also help students to learn more
about themselves in the process.
As a class, students will be gathering
information on the foods, physical activities
and sports
that they are involved in. They will be
reflecting on these and identifying NEW
THINGS to try. |

Learning Task
|
|
| |
 |
 |
Create a class list using
the headings of the table below of all
the new food, physical activities or
sports students might like to try such
as:
Food: sushi, fried rice, tacos, mangos …
Physical Activity: baseball, beach volleyball,
orienteering, table tennis, dancing or
skiing… |
| |
 |
Students will work individually to
look at what is new to them by choosing
two of the new foods and physical activities
to investigate and research further.
Students research the following:
| • |
Where will
they be able to learn more about
the new foods and activities? |
| • |
What skills do they need
to participate in these activities
or to create these new foods? |
|

use these sentence starters when sharing
with the class:

in a sport or physical activity is …
