Introduction
|
|
| |
This learning activity gives the students
the opportunity to investigate Health and
PE, discovering what interests them by developing
a Learning Activity. The Learning Activity
needs to cover both nutrition and physical
activity. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Learning Task
|
|
| |
 |
 |
Students need to work
together as a class to brainstorm a
whole range of different things they
want to learn about Health, PE, nutrition,
types of physical activity, balanced
diet, amount of physical activity,
and the 5 food groups |
| |
 |
In groups of 2, students select a
topic that interests them. Remember
to emphasise that the Healthy Activity
should include both nutrition and physical
activity and should cover either all
of the 5 Fun Ways themes or focus on
one theme

Encourage students to look on the
web for useful websites – they
can use the websites from all the great
Learning Quests on the Kids Health
and Fitness website as a starting point.
Have students collate information from
websites. Remember to get students
to record the website address (URL),
the title, the creator and a short
description about the site. This can
be done by selecting the URL with the
mouse and copy and paste it into a
Word document. By doing this, students
will have a better chance of recording
it correctly |
| |
 |
Students can use the following as
a guideline for the parts of a Learning
Activity:
A title: What the
Learning Activity will be called.
Make it sound fun
and engaging
An introduction: Information
about the Learning Activity, what
the main
learning is from doing the Learning
Activity
A learning task: What needs to be
done. Keep it simple. Only introduce
1 – 2 things to learn. A well-designed
task is engaging, fun and promotes
learning |
| |
 |
Students develop activity cards once
the learning activity is complete.
Each month choose a new activity card
to learn something new that students
want to learn about |
| |
 |
Encourage refection on the development
of their own learning activity. Use
the Y Chart for students to reflect
on what they experienced, learnt and
did
